The story of PKGR
It began with a young woman looking to design an outfit for a pageant. It took her to the alleys of Asan filled with fabrics from around the world. Hand printed cotton from Nepal became her choice of fabric. She sat down and sketched an outline of an outfit. A single tailor in the store turned her idea into reality – lightweight cotton skort and top, trimmed with delicate piping, perfect for the Nepali summer. She didn’t know then that this humble creation would take her all the way to the Miss Nepal crown in 1996, and then beyond — to represent her country on the stage of Miss Asia Pacific in the Philippines.
Years later, when Nepal shook with the 2015 earthquake, her love for hand-spun cotton and soft muslin returned with new meaning. Amidst the rubble and loss, Punam taught marginalized women to sew Khasto — the soft, comforting shawl of Nepal — each paired with its own carrying pouch. What began as a small act of healing became a livelihood movement, bringing resilience and hope stitched into every fold. PKGR was born from those threads — of creativity, compassion, and comfort.
It’s not just a brand, but a continuation of Punam’s journey — from the lanes of Kathmandu to the global stage — weaving together heritage and modernity, purpose and elegance. With PKGR, she brings together designers and dreamers who share her love for natural cotton and effortless style – creating ethnic-chic clothing.
